Time For An Update

So its been a while, as always. I seem to really only have something to write when there are big updates. Im afraid that I inevitably miss lots of important things because i forget about them by the time I actually blog. So i guess i need to update you all on work, Brooklynn, and life.

The farm is always crazy and busy. Ben has taken over alot of responsibility and extra tasks over the last few months. All the cow work for the season has finally eneded as they have all been bred and taken to pasture. So that removes a big job for   Ben until fall when we bring them home. Cows have been a steady job since about February when calving started, so its nice to have it finally done. But now is the season of 16+ hours every day with irrigation and harvest and fall prep. So really cow stuff isnt really done, cuz they have to still clean up the feedlot and get stuff ready for fall. Ben hardly gets to see Brooklynn very much because he leaves for work before she wakes up and gets home long after she has gone to sleep, very often after I have gone to sleep as well. Its hard on him, and its hard on us. But he does it anyway, usually without complaint. Im the one who secretly complains.

Well enough of the boring lol. Now we need some pictures!! Brooklynn is as cute and crazy as ever. She is 19months today, crazy!!!! She is so flippen smart, I truly cant believe it sometimes. She counts to ten, knows colors and shapes, knows about a million songs, knows all the kids' names in nursery, is a little chatter box and talks constantly!! Her new "cute" is playing hide and seek.... she covers her eyes and yells "mommy, where are you? Ready or not, here comes!!!!" It makes me laugh every single time. She also says "yes sweetheart. Yes monkey butt. Yes sweetie pie. Yes dear," just some of the responses she gets from various family members lol. I still cannot tame her crazy hair, but it doesn't surprise me (mine was worse)! She can also speak spanish lol! She says "hola, como estas? Muy bien!" My dad taught her in a matter of hours in honor of Ryan and Jessica being on spanish speaking missions. Its pretty cute. She also likes saying the blessing on the food, and is usually the one reminding us that we haven't prayed yet at meal time, and snack time. And as always.....obsessed with Barney!!!! Again, just like her momma :-)

Habla espanol!

And its a good thing she can sit in front of the tv and watch Barney, because it lets mommy sit and rest! Growing a baby is always a tiring job :-)!!! Yup, we are expecting baby #2! We got pregnant the month after our miscarriage, making this baby due December 18th! Man, can i time it or what!?! Thats only 2 days after Brooklynns due date! Looks like i could get another Christmas baby, or Christmas eve or boxing day baby ^_^ December is shaping up to be a very expensive month for this family. This pregnancy has been really good so far, with only a little bit of nausea and some recent dizzy spells. The first trimester was scary and stressful after our recent loss, but everything is perfectly fine, and baby girl is growing right on schedule!!

Yes, its another little Huber GIRL!!!!! We had our ultrasound on Thursday and she looked great! It will be lots of fun for Brooklynn to have a little sister and friend to play with! And it will help with the Christmas costs because I dont have to buy anything new, except a double stroller that im drooling over! Im nervous about having to little rugrats, especially since Brooklynn is so crazy and active. But she likes babies, and takes her dolly around with her everywhere. Im trying to get her to help mommy more so that she is a big helper when baby comes. The good thing about our bad timing is that it is actually great timing for having a baby for a farmer/rancher! Our only down time for work is between Dec and Feb, so it works out great, cuz ill have ben around more for the transition and adjustment. We are so excited! Now to just find a name.......oh joy! We had so much trouble with Brooklynns name, and had a dozen boys names for this time, but no girls. Oh well, we have 21 weeks to figure it out :-)

19 weeks, almost half way!!! (I dont feel like im very big, much smaller than with Brooklynn, and not growing much. Some days i can still hide it even)

Perfect little profile of baby GIRL at 19 weeks!

Work, Life, Homemaking, & Brooklynn

This post is really just a way for me to waste time, and take a break from cleaning. So sorry if its a little all over the place. This is a post about Work, Life, Homemaking, Brooklynn, and pictures.

Work...
Spring is in the air (NO ITS NOT!) which means that its calving season. Our herd is about half way done, and the other herds will be starting in April. Ben will be really busy, and will probably be sleeping out at the ranch for a while so he can go check the cows. So far calving has gone pretty well, but there is still alot more to come.

Life...
We were thrown a bit of a curve ball this last month, and I have to say, it was one of the most upsetting and disappointing ones yet. In February we found out that we were expecting another little bundle of joy in October, after nine months of trying. We were so excited! I was feeling great, tired and nauseous, but great. However, Heavenly Father had another plan for our little family. Early in March, at about 7 weeks, we had a heartbreaking miscarriage. I know that people always say that you miscarry for a reason, but it was/is still heartbreaking. Heartbreaking as a mother, expecting a new baby to nurture. Even though they are tiny, they already hold a piece of your heart, for in your mind they had a future, in which they were a part of your family. You were supposed to carry them lovingly for 9 months, through all the pains of pregnancy, feeling them grow inside you. You were supposed to take care of them as a baby, child, teenage, adult. All these things that were supposed to be, just disappear in the blink of an eye. All the "what if's" change...it goes from What if its a boy? What if its a busy time of year? What if its a miserable pregnancy with a crazy toddler? to What if it takes that long again, or longer? What if that was our last chance? What if it happens again? I try to be strong, knowing that it was part of God's plan, but sometimes I still cry over what could have been, what we wanted so bad. But I know that everything will work out the way it is supposed to, and we will try again. I may look like I have it all under control, and that I am totally nonchalant about the whole thing, but underneath I am still sad for what could have been. (Not looking for pity points, so please dont comment on Facebook. If you want to talk to me about it, message me. Thanks)

Homemaking...
After our loss, I decided that I was going to throw myself into homemaking and being a mother to my perfect little girl. I have never been a homemaker, I HATE cleaning!!! Especially laundry! But I have tried to be a better homemaker as of late. I couldnt tell you if it was improving any, cuz you couldnt tell I was trying by looking at my house. With a very active 15month old, a very active 26yr old, and 2 very playful dogs, my house is in constant chaos. It is very frustrating, having to clean the same thing a dozen or more times a day. Its frustrating when all that you do goes unnoticed, and even more frustrating when the people around you dont like the effort (a very stubborn and opinionated 15 month old). Everyone and everything is working against you. It all seems pointless.
But, I have found a tonne of new recipes that we love, and am in the process of finally putting my cookbook together (that I got for my wedding). I have enjoyed that part of homemaking, and have fun trying new or healthier recipes. Its all a work in progress.

Brooklynn...
The section you have all be waiting for. Unfortunately I have been slacking on the video and picture taking, and any Brooklynn updates.
Age: 15 months
Clothes: wears size 24 month sleepers, 18-24mon clothes, almost sz 6 shoes. Loves wearing her gumboots.
Likes:
-baths, but only if you dont get her head wet
-POPCORN!!!!! This is her favorite food group. When we go over to Ben's parents (they have a popcorn machine), she walks over to the tuperware cupboard and pulls out her bowl, then pesters anyone within sight for popcorn.
-BARNEY!!!!!! Oh my is this girl obsessed with Barney! She could watch Barney all day if I let her. Luckily there are billion episodes on youtube. It is a life saver when we have to go on long trips, cuz she hates sitting still for too long unless it is watching Barney. She knows that she has to go sit in her cushion chair when she watches Barney, then she sits there throughout the entire episode.
-meat, fruit
-playing in the dog drinking bowl....grrr >:(
-bouncing on the bed
-going for walks ("alk")
-nursery
Hates:
-being told what to do! She is so determined and independent, it scares me sometimes
-getting her hair done, even though she asks for me to do her hair?
-no Barney
Things she can do:
-Itsy bitsy spider
-Happy and you know it
-can repeat all the letters of the alphabet
-can say names and sounds of most animals
-tries to walk up stairs
-short sentences/phrases ("daddy at work", "bye daddy, kiss", "Charlie, bad!", "you're cute/crazy", "no touch", "stop it", etc etc). Phenomenal language skills for her age.
-pretty much anything you tell her not to
-anything she sets her mind to.

Christmas and Birthday

Warning......picture overload!

Brooklynn had such a blast this week! With 4 out of 5 great-grandparents, and 3 out of 4 grandparents (Sue was really sick with the flu so she stayed away so everyone wouldnt get sick. Wished she could have been there), and aunts, uncles, and cousins, she had lots of people to play with and an opportunity to show off. She skipped quite a few naps throughout the week because she refused to miss out on any fun that was being had. And she was so happy the entire time! She didnt even get grumpy. She is gonna be bored with me when everyone leaves and it just becomes her and I all day. But at least she has a butt load of toys to play with!

The festivities started on Christmas Eve with both sets of my grandparents coming over. We had our traditional Christmas Eve fondue, complete with a chocolate fountain & fruit, chicken & beef & shrimp oil fondue, bread & cheese fondue, and Shirley Temples.

Then we opened Christmas jammies
