Things To Look Forward To

So, I have a little under a week until my official due date, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm pretty sure she is gonna try to stay in there as long as possible, enjoying herself, and making my time less enjoyable lol. Everything is ready for her to come, so its just a matter of waiting on her. Is this a sign of how life is going to be when she arrives?...absolutely. If she is anything like her daddy, she will always make people operate on her time.

I was thinking of a few things that I am soooo looking forward to about not being pregnant, mostly cuz today I missed alot of those things:

1. Sleeping on my stomach a back
2. No heartburn
3. Rolling over in bed without grimacing and holding my guts together (stupid ligaments)
4. Putting on pants and shoes without having to lay in bed to do so
5. Wearing something other than Ug boots
6. Being able to pick up my own laundry without hurting or running out of breath
7. Wearing my wedding rings again
8. Not getting tired from doing my hair
9. No more showers at 3am cuz I'm too uncomfortable to sleep
10. Being a normal temperature

There are many more things that belong on that list that I think of throughout the day recently, and I'm sure more things will be added as I waddle to the finish line. Oh, thats another one...being able to walk normally!

Here's some funny things that made me laugh, and are perfect for this stage of my pregnancy.

Except there is no way I can move like she can at this point!

A Little Bit of Everything

Okay, so I have been waiting and waiting to post again until I had the baby room finished. Well, its a slow process, so I thought I would just post an update on how its progressing so far. The only things that are left to finish are putting up some shelves, organizing the clothes in the dresser and closet, putting up the pink flower decals, and sewing all the buttons onto the recovered rocking chair.

I printed off a picture off the internet and cut it out to make my own stencil for the tree. It was a pain in the back, literally.
(Sorry, all the pictures are kind of crappy, they were taken on my cell phone as my camera is at a friends)

And then I painted it on the wall with the help of my mother. And voila...

Then once that was done we set up the crib and put up the curtains. A few weeks later I assembled the dresser, which was both a pain in the butt and the back. A vinyl saying is going on the wall in the space above the crib, I just have to figure out what I want it to say. Any ideas?

I got a glider rocking chair from my mother-in-law, which is super comfy. But it had some rips in the covering, so my wonderful mother recovered the entire thing. It was a very difficult job. Now we just have to finish sewing on all the buttons onto the cushions.

So the room is mostly finished, just a few small tasks to complete.

Here are the most recent pictures that I have of my bump. They were taken at 32 weeks by my friend Tal. I am going to take another pic on Sunday, when I will be 37 weeks.

On November 10th Ben and I went to Pincher Creek and had another ultrasound. This one was just for fun, and we wanted to check again to see if she was still a she lol. We also wanted to check to see if she was positioned correctly, which she was. Head down, face down. Perfect for delivery, not so perfect for ultrasounds. So here are a few pictures of her, both from my first ultrasound and the most recent one.

Profile 20 weeks

Foot 20 weeks 3.30cm

Hand and Hair 35 weeks
(And yes, my little girl flipped her hair for the ultrasound video)

Yup, she is still a little girl. 35 weeks

Face with little cheeks, eyes, and nose. 35 weeks

I am starting to get quite uncomfortable now, with pulling ligaments and abdominal muscles, which makes sleeping very difficult, if not near impossible now. Oh, and Im easing into my nesting stage. Made a big huge list of things that still need to get done in the next three weeks, cleaned the living room, spare room, and bedroom, complete with dusting, windows, and vacuuming. And yes, I end up paying for it dearly by the end of the day with a killer back ache and ribs and abs that are screaming at me to stop being stupid.

Well, thats all for now. Ta ta.

Oh, and Ben has decided that he wants to install the car seat tonight.

Dumb things people ask

So, I was just thinking of some of the questions or comments that people pose to pregnant women. Most of these I have had first had experience with in the last few months.

Q. How far along are you? 30 weeks.

Q. Continually being asked "do you know what you are having???" hmmmm let me see ... a baby? We are having a girl.

Q. How are you feeling? Pregnant, duh! Like Sigourney Weaver's crew in Alien. Other than that, I'm feelin great!

Q. How's the baby? I don't know, she is swimming in amniotic fluid so I assume great

Q. Can you feel her kicking? Moving, kicking, stretching, getting angry when she has the hiccups, and practicing her gymnastics routine.

Q. "It must be great to have an excuse to sit at home and do nothing". Excuse me? Im in the process of manufacturing a small human, thank you very much. Lol, and yes it is :)

Q. Is daddy excited? Well if he's not, too bad, cuz she will be here in 10 weeks. Lol but Ben is really excited, and we both cant wait for her to get here.

Q. Do you have a name picked out yet? Maybe we do, maybe we don't. But we aint tellin you cuz you will either criticize it or steal it.

Q. You look like you're about to explode! Really? I had no idea. I was feeling quite svelte today. Thanks for the earth shattering observation.

Q. Can I touch your belly? Sure! It's totally acceptable to grope a stranger's body. Can I touch yours?

Q. You can't possibly have X months left! Or "You only have X months left?" Wow! You know so much about this! I should just quit going to my OB and come straight to you! Some people think I look so small, and then the next person will say "omg, you have just popped since last time I saw you."

Q. Are you going to breastfeed? And ... this impacts you how?? Did you want to taste the milk?

Q. Should you be lifting that? Should you be allowed to speak? Im pregnant, not dying.

Q. Are you happy? What a stupid question.

Q. Wow, your young, did you plan this? What about school? Of course we planned this. Do I look like someone who wouldnt plan this? And, mind your own business.

Let the Fun Begin

So the countdown is on, and its time to get going on the nursery. Im so excited, cuz I have never been able to paint a room the way I want it, or to really take the time to decorate it the way I would like. The only sad part is that Im not even the one doing the painting, my mother-in-law is doing it for me. I was gonna wait till it was completely finished before I posted pictures, but I guess people need something to read in their spare time lol, so I am providing updates for their enjoyment. So far we have only painted, as we are still waiting on the decals and carpet.

So, here are a few before pictures....

And a few after pictures.....

ITS GREEEEEN!!!!!!!

So the room is going to be green, with pink double-layer curtains. There will be a tree wall decal on the wall to the left of the window in the picture, where the crib and change table will be, which has pink/white/and green flower and ladybug bedding. We are also going to have a dark green glider, and pink flower decals and pink shelves. I am sooo excited for it to be finished!!!!

I think this little girl is really excited too, because she is moving around like crazy still. Its such a strange/awesome feeling. I am measuring at 2 weeks ahead of what I should be, so hopefully that means that she is gonna be here sooner. We will see what my doc says at my next appointment, which is in three weeks instead of four.

Daddy is getting really excited too, and can't wait for our little munchkin to finally be here. He told me yesterday that he plans to install the carseat on November 16th, and then practice putting it in the car and taking it out whenever we go somewhere. We are also going to prenatal classes, which are pretty much a gongshow lol. But I like going to them because it makes me feel like Ben is being included and is getting more settled into the daddy role, even though she is not here yet. Some of the things we talk about in that class are straaange! But its fun, and everyone is always laughing.

Oh, I guess I could put a few bump pictures on here too that I have taken thus far :)

15 weeks

22 weeks

And...POP! 29 weeks!

I dont even feel that big, or think that I look that big, but when I took this picture this afternoon, I was like "Holy crap Ben, Im FAT!"  Ben is pretty excited about that, because he has been waiting for me to really look pregnant right from the beginning. I dont really look this big all the time, I think it is just the picture and the dress. But oh well. its still a cute little bump :) Thats all for now!

Rewind

Okay, so I have joined the dark side....the blogging world. Next stop....Pintrest! Lol. I never thought I would be one to start a blog, but I find myself with extra time on my hands, with severe bouts of boredom. Shhhh dont tell Ben or he will come up with something for me to do ;)

So before I jump right in to our crazy lives here on the far, lets bring you up to speed. This is gonna be fast, so hang on....(rewind sound)

On June 5th, 2011 a strange farm boy presented me with a bright shiny piece of metal and rock, and asked if I would like to become a farmer's wife. As fate would have it, I said yes. So Ben and I were married on August 20th, 2011 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. It was the happiest day of my life, promising so many more to come. We moved into a little house in Redcliff, not farm from the farm, and that is when the Huber homestead began.

That year I attended school while he attended to the feedlot. He became a buisness owner, establishing Eldorado Charolais, with about 30 head. I quickly became a farm wife, with late meals, unknown schedules, muddy carpets, and one smelly poop covered husband.

Our happy homestead has since moved out onto greener pastures on the home farm across from the in-laws. We have three little kitties and one beast of a dog, Maverick. We got Mav as a puppy, and have grown up together. He is still a little wiggling pup, but he is the best with kids! He will fight and wrestle with Ben, but when it comes time to be with kids, he just lays down and lets them maul him lol. I am so happy that he is so good with kids because in 102 day, on December 16th 2012, he will have a brand new little baby playmate!

Ten tiny twinkle toes will be added to our little homestead this Christmas, and they will be covered with pretty pink baby booties. We are expecting a little baby girl, and we have never been so excited! I am 25 weeks, and desperately counting down the days tilll we can see our little girl. You wouldnt know I was that far along, and Ben keeps asking "When are you gonna get REALLY fat?" I have a bit of a bump, and I look pregnant, but I really just want to be one of those cute little pregnant laddies who looks like the swallowed a basketball. Lol I know I shouldnt complain, cuz it only means that much less weight to lose after, but I just want to show off our little gift to everyone.

It is so magical to be able to feel our little baby moving around inside as she grows. I love just laying there and watching my tummy ripple and bulge and twitch, and to feel parts of her body pushing against it. Sometimes we can even feel her head pushed up against my belly button. Its so cool, and so weird at the same time. The only not cool things about it are the back pain and heartburn and excessive tiredness. But it is all worth it, and I try not to complain.

There is so much more going on here on the Huber homestead in our day to day lives, so stay tuned.
